Creativity and arts initiative launched at Little Angels School

A new initiative has been launched at Little Angels School, Letterkenny.

‘I Am Creative’ is a pilot initiative from the Government’s Department of Education, which is exploring ways in which teachers, artists, school leaders and special education assistants can work together to improve the provision of arts education in special education.

Within this initiative, two Artists in Residence, Julie Griffiths and Mrs Margaret Rowland, will work with students and staff to support creative engagement in the special education environment.

Throughout the residency, Julie and Margaret will use and experiment with a wide range of materials and methodologies to enhance the students’ creativity and self-expression.

Together they will facilitate the creation of a series of works of art that will be integrated into the new school building and enjoyed by all for many years to come.

The principal and staff at Little Angels Special School said they are honored to be part of the initiative, which was awarded to them by the Donegal Education Support Centre.
