Mumbai: The death toll in the horrific Ghatkopar hamster collapse in Mumbai rose to 14 on Monday and more than 70 people were injured after an apocalyptic-like dust storm followed by rain lashed the city. Gusty winds battered Maharashtra’s capital, bringing down the giant billboard on a petrol pump where hundreds of people took shelter from the bad weather.

The Ghatkopar tragedy has also raised several questions after the Brihanamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) revealed that it had not given permission to the advertising agency that installed the hoardings and that it was illegal.

Police have arrested the agency’s owner, Bhavesh Bhide, on charges of culpable homicide, which does not amount to murder, following the tragic accident. News9Live brings you the latest updates on the ground situation in Mumbai and the developing story of the Ghatkopar hamster collapse.
