Uddhav Thackeray needs a psychiatrist; Sharad Pawar became CM because of BJP: Devendra Fadnavis to News18

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, called Arvind Kejriwal “shameless” for continuing as the Delhi CM even after his arrest. Home Minister Amit Shah and the Shiv Sena in 2019 said Uddhav Thackeray’s speeches show that he “needs a psychiatrist”. Fadnavis said the media was taking Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar too seriously when the latter’s “birth as CM happened because of the BJP”.

Ahead of the vote in Mumbai on May 20, in which the BJP has an alliance with the Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, Fadnavis claimed that alliance politics were here to stay in Maharashtra. “We will continue to strengthen our allies and fight the state elections together,” he said. He named Congress traitors and said their statements are helping Pakistan.

‘IF SARAD PAWAR BECOMES WEAK, HE GOES TO CONGRESS’

When asked about the Lok Sabha poll battles in Baramati, Thane and Kalyan, Fadnavis said: “Look at the body language of Sharad Pawar… If you look at his history, whenever he has become weak, he has been absorbed into the Congress . And when he regained his strength, he left the Congress. He’s done it more than four or five times. He feels he has lost Baramati to Ajit Pawar.”

On Sharad Pawar’s prediction of 30-35 seats for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress-Uddhav Sena and its NCP), Fadnavis said, “He has been very kind to us that he has given us at least 13 seats. Maharashtra will be with our Mahayuti. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is also with us. The political arithmetic is such that BJP is at the center. We have a formidable combination.”

“Sharad Pawar is known to say things that mean something different. He does the exact opposite of what he says. Pawar became the CM for the first time by bringing down Vasantdada. Who was he with? Jan Sang. Thanks to us he became CM for the first time. Indira Gandhi dissolved that government. Every time he has become weak, he has merged with Congress and later come out. Pawar’s birth as CM was due to the BJP. How can he say that he believes in Nehru-Gandhi ideology,” he asked.

‘AJIT PAWAR, EKNATH SHINDE VICTIM OF FAMILY, FIRST FAMILY FIRST’

“Uddhav Thackeray needs a psychiatrist. The kind of speeches he gives show that his mind has gone off the rails. The more they abuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the more people will vote for Modi. He needs help. He has not yet managed to overcome the trauma of the fall of his government. He lives in an illusion. He’s so immature. He needs help,” Fadnavis said.

Uddhav Thackeray’s MVA government fell after Eknath Shinde rebelled to join hands with the BJP and become the CM. Eventually, Ajit Pawar of the NCP also split the party and joined the ruling alliance. “Uddhav Thackeray is not the heir of Balasaheb’s ideas…Uddhav wanted to become CM in 2004. He clipped the wings of his party leaders to ensure that his chances did not diminish. Uddhav had cut Narayan Rane’s wings even though we had a good chance of winning and forming the government way back in 2004,” Fadnavis said.

He added, “There is a syndrome in Maharashtra politics: family first, family first. Eknath Shinde was a victim of his family first, Ajit Pawar was a victim of his family first.”

‘Never promised CM POST, UDDHAV stabbed us in the back’

“Their lies have been called out. We never promised them CM post. A day before we went to their house, the topic of CM was closed. Neither Amit bhai nor I promised him anything. But as soon as the numbers game got stuck and Soniaji was ready, he gave us a jab. From 2004 onwards, he wanted to become CM,” Fadnavis said.

‘HOW CAN KEJRIWAL ACT AS A FREEDOM FIGHTER ON INTERIM BAIL?’

Commenting on Kejriwal’s interim bail in the Delhi liquor policy case till June 1 and his remarks that Indian democracy was being challenged by the dictatorship, Fadnavis said: ‘Rhetoric. Democracy in this country has been challenged time and time again by those who believe in this ideology. Kejriwal has been released on interim bail. There is a prima facie case against him. That is why he was not granted regular bail. There are conditions that he cannot work as CM. How can he put on such a brave face? If such restrictions are passed by the court, how can he behave like a freedom fighter? I am surprised. Where does this shamelessness come from,” Fadnavis asked.

“There is a family-first, family-first syndrome in Maharashtra politics. Eknath Shinde was a victim of his family first, Ajit Pawar was a victim of his family first.”

‘UJJWAL NIKAM A NATIONALIST LAWYER; CONGRESS SPEAKS PAK’S LANGUAGE

Congress MP Vijay Wadettiwar recently said that an RSS-affiliated operative, and not terrorist Ajmal Kasab, killed former state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He also accused lawyer and BJP’s Mumbai North Central candidate Ujjwal Nikam of hiding information about the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

“Ujjwal Nikam is a nationalist lawyer. He has been a lawyer for all major terror cases and has fought against the country’s enemies. Isse bada deshdroh aur koi nahi ho sakta. Congress is speaking the language of Pakistan on the 2008 terror attacks. If it was true, how could it have been hidden? Pakistan tried to take this story to an international forum. When I was CM, special permission was sought to go to the US to record all the evidence and confessions. Pakistan has now been exposed.

These people are shameless. You are concerned about the insult to Kasab, but you are asking questions about the martyrdom of our brave Karkare, Kamte, Tukaram Omble, Salaskar. This is treason.”

“It will help Pakistan 100 percent because it is keeping such things in the international forum that this is being said in India itself and India is making false propaganda. I never use the word deshdroh, but they are deshdrohis,” he said.

‘BJP NOT AGAINST MUSLIMS; WE SAY THAT THE POOR HAVE THE FIRST RIGHT TO ALL RESOURCES’

Commenting on the claim that the BJP was anti-Muslim and would change the Constitution, he said: “The BJP is not against Muslims but against appeasement politics. Congress was in power for sixty years. Then why is the condition of the Muslims like this? Because they are only used as a vote bank. Because Congress never wants progress for Muslims. They just want to spread fear.”

Fadnavis further said, “We believe in justice for all and reconciliation for none. We gave houses to four crore Indians. We did not ask whether there were Muslims who received water, gas, or a house. We do not consider them as a vote bank. They say that Muslims have the first right to the country’s resources. We say: the first right belongs to the poor.”

‘Congress insulted the Constitution, MODI saved it in both terms’

On the Opposition’s claim that the BJP would change the Constitution if they got more than 400 seats, he said: “In 1975, the one who locked the Constitution in its tijori was Indira Gandhi, who was a member of the Congress. Modi saved the Constitution in both terms. Congress opposed Constitution Day. By not abrogating Article 370, the Congress had insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution. When Muslims in Karnataka become part of the OBC, they go against it. The Constituent Assembly had said no to religion-based and caste-based reservations.”

‘PM DID NOT MAKE AN OFFER TO UDDHAV, PAWAR TO PARTICIPATE IN NDA, IT WAS A SUGGESTION’

Reacting to the Prime Minister’s statement that Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray should join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Fadnavis said, “This is not an offer. It is a learning process, a suggestion. The Prime Minister said Pawar realized that Baramati is lost. Even Congress is a sinking ship. Decide and come with Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde. It is not an offer… There are no ifs and buts in politics.”

Did Pakistan dare to spread terror after the 2019 air strikes? Where are the khoon ki nadiyaan after abrogation of Article 370? Pitroda insulted the Indians. This is the oldest existing democracy.
