Rain and storms return Tuesday – Indianapolis News | Weather Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Precipitation amounts could exceed an inch in some areas.

This morning:

There are a lot of clouds here this morning and fairly comfortable temperatures as most hover around 60°. Some rain is moving into the Midwest, but it’s still a long way from Central Indiana.

An upper level low will move through the Midwest later today, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms across our state. Central Indiana likely won’t see these showers and thunderstorms until sometime after 8 or 9 a.m. Expect isolated showers and thunderstorms throughout the remainder of the late morning into the afternoon hours. No extreme weather conditions are expected, but some areas of heavy rain are possible.

High temperatures this afternoon will only be in the low 70s.

Tuesday night:

We will see additional precipitation to the rear of this low pressure center tonight. Coverage should improve as we get into the early morning hours of Wednesday. Mostly cloudy conditions should otherwise keep our temperatures in the 60s.

Our upper level low continues to shift eastward, but is close enough to remain mostly cloudy through Wednesday, with some intermittent thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. Ultimately we will work from very late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening, gradually clearing the skies.

High temperatures reaching the mid-seventies.

High pressure will set in on Thursday, making for a beautiful day. High temperatures will peak in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

8-day forecast:

Another system moving in here late this week will bring rain chances very late Thursday evening and scattered showers and thunderstorms on Friday. The weekend seems relatively dry for the time being. There is an outdoor shot for a few showers and storms, but it looks like the drier air moved out and kept us dry both days, with highs in the low 80s.
