Police arrest infamous ‘One Chance’ gun robbery suspects, recover operational vehicle and weapons in Nasarawa

Some members of an armed robbery gang commonly referred to as One Chance, operating along the Akwanga-Keffi-Abuja highway, have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command.

According to a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects were apprehended by police officers attached to Anguwan Lambu Division, Keffi.

According to the statement, with ref: AZ:5250/NAS/PRD/VOL.2/70, those arrested were Chibuieze Orji ‘M’ 52 years old and Jibrin Mohammed ‘M’ 45 years old.

Nansel further stated that preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects typically pose as taxi drivers to pick up unsuspecting passengers, drive them to unknown destinations and deprive them of money and other belongings, only to abandon the victims during their flight.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and said they have been active for more than ten years and have robbed many people.

“They further stated that they were recently released from Shendam Prison, Plateau State, for a similar offense after completing their prison terms,” the statement read in part.

The recovered items included a Toyota Carina II vehicle with registration number Abuja CO 212 ABC, an ax and a hammer.

Nansel added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered that the suspects be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of investigations.

The CP assured members of the public that the command would be ruthless in the fight against crime in the state and would seek their cooperation.
