Artists with disabilities present first photo exhibition at Tarrytown Cafe

When you walk in Coffee Labs Roasters in Tarrytown this month you will be greeted by a unique exhibition that will challenge your preconceptions. The store’s brick wall is decorated with intimate photographs of hands, capturing the essence of the creativity and passion of talented artists with disabilities. These artists are part of a photography club in YAI’s Tarrytown Day Habilitation program.

The eight-member club has been meeting weekly for about a year at YAI – a nonprofit organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Under the guidance of a professional photographer Mark Liflander, they have honed their skills and embraced the art of photography. Their dedication and passion have culminated in their first community exhibition, which will be on display throughout the month of May at the coffee shop at 7 Main Street.
