Paramount Takes Priority On Chris McCoy’s Thriller Spec ‘Hit The Gas’; Neal Moritz will produce

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures made a pre-emptive purchase Press the gasa spec script by Chris McCoy for Neal Moritz to produce.

Described as a propulsive thriller, the film’s logline is secret. Tania Landau will oversee Moritz’s original film, while Vanessa Joyce will oversee Paramount. The script was told to us last week when it was released to studio producers, without any attachments. Moritz was immediately enthusiastic about the material and got the studio to advance the script within 24 hours.

A celebrated author who has been blacklisted three times among the best unproduced screenplays of the year, with Come back, Good looking And Good children, McCoy ended up directing the final drama starring Nicholas Braun and Zoey Deutch. He has written for Paramount, Marvel, Disney, Amazon, DreamWorks and Fox and has seen his work as an author appear in both The Believer and McSweeney’s. Most recently, McCoy wrote Beast leaves for Anonymous Content and Paramount Television, with direction by David Slade.

Known for his work on the Fast & Furious And Sonic the hedgehog franchises, among other tentpoles, also includes Moritz’s upcoming appearance at Original Film Sonic the Hedgehog 3JJ Perry’s action-adventure photo Afterburning starring Dave Bautista and Samuel L. Jackson, and a Cruel intentions series for Prime Video, among many other projects.

McCoy is represented by UTA, Gotham Group and Hansen, Jacobsen, Teller.
