Kelsey Norris joins Concord Intermediate School as dean of students

May 14 – ELKHART – Kelsey Norris has been named the new dean of students at Concord Intermediate School following a unanimous vote by the Concord School Board on May 6. She will assume her new role on July 1.

Norris began her career in education at Goshen Community Schools in 2014. During her tenure at Goshen, she taught first, fifth and sixth grades. Most recently, she was a master teacher at Goshen Intermediate School.

As a classroom teacher, Norris served on the leadership team and received national recognition for implementing high-quality professional development. While working as a master teacher, she worked with teachers and students in many different capacities and witnessed the impact of leaders on a school.

In her role at Concord, she will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment by supporting student discipline and attendance issues.

“I have always valued building relationships with students while motivating them to high performance, and I look forward to continuing that work in my new role,” she said.

She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in instructional design and technology, both from Purdue University. Norris is currently working on obtaining her administrator license.

“Kelsey is passionate about using her skills to support student learning,” said Travis Swanson, principal of Concord Intermediate School. “She possesses a broad range of skills that will help her successfully carry out the various responsibilities of the Dean of Students. She is student-centered, driven and problem-solving. She will be a great support to the students and staff of CIS.”
